Crestor

Crestor (rosuvastatin) is a prescription drug used to treat high cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It belongs to a group of drugs called statins. Statins work by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. Crestor is used in adults and children who are at least 10 years old. Crestor is sometimes used in combination with other cholesterol-lowering medications. Crestor is available in generic form. Side effects of Crestor include: headache, muscle pain, weakness, tired feeling, upset stomach, skin rash, or joint pain. Tell your doctor if you have serious side effects of Crestor including: liver problems (upper right abdominal pain, fatigue, dark urine, jaundice), muscle problems (muscle aches, tenderness, or weakness, especially with fever or unusual tiredness), kidney problems, diarrhea, stomach pain, or constipation. The recommended starting dose of Crestor is 10 mg once daily. Crestor may interact with birth control pills, blood thinners, cyclosporine, digoxin, gemfibrozil, ketoconazole, nefazodone, or other cholesterol-lowering medications. Tell your doctor all medications you use. During pregnancy, Crestor should be used only when prescribed. This medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
