Anacin is a pain reliever that contains aspirin and caffeine. It is used to relieve pain from headaches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or other types of pain. Call your doctor at once if you have: -ringing in your ears, hearing loss; -easy bruising or bleeding; -black, bloody, or tarry stools; -coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds; -swelling or rapid weight gain; -shortness of breath; -chest pain, irregular heartbeats; -nausea, upper stomach pain, itching; or -jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). Take Anacin with a full glass of water. Anacin can cause ulcers and bleeding in the stomach and intestines. Taking it in high doses or for a long time, smoking, or drinking alcohol increases your risk of these side effects. Do not take more than the recommended dose of Anacin, and avoid activities that may increase your risk of bleeding or injury. Anacin may be only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and other medications. Follow your doctor's instructions about the type and amount of liquids you should drink. In some cases, drinking too much liquid can be as unsafe as not drinking enough. Anacin is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
