Trimox
Trimox (amoxicillin) is a commonly used antibiotic. It is part of the penicillin group of drugs and is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. These include ear infections, respiratory infections, skin infections, and urinary tract infections. Side Effects
Common side effects of Trimox include:
- nausea
- vomiting

- rash
- itching
- swelling
- headache
- black, "hairy" tongue
- white patches on your tongue
- vaginal itching or discharge
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
- fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms
- easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness
- jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
- seizure (convulsions)
- swelling in your face, lips, tongue, or throat

Dosage
The usual adult dose is one or two 500-mg capsules every 8 hours. The usual child dose is 25 to 50 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hours.
Trimox may interact with other antibiotics, allopurinol, probenecid, or methotrexate. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use.
During pregnancy, Trimox should be used only when prescribed. This medication passes into breast milk and could have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
