Eriacta is a generic medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Eriacta contains the active ingredient sildenafil, which is the same active ingredient as Viagra. Eriacta is manufactured by Ranbaxy. Eriacta is used to treat ED by increasing blood flow to the penis. Eriacta does not cure ED, but it can help men with ED to get and maintain an erection. Eriacta is available in 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg tablets. The recommended starting dose of Eriacta is 50 mg. The maximum recommended dose of Eriacta is 100 mg. Eriacta should be taken on an empty stomach. Eriacta can be taken with or without food. Eriacta should be taken as needed, about 1 hour before sexual activity. Eriacta can be taken with or without food. Eriacta should not be taken more than once per day. If you take more than one tablet of Eriacta per day, you may experience more side effects. Eriacta may interact with other medications. Tell your doctor all medications you take. Eriacta must not be used with nitrates, such as nitroglycerin or isosorbide dinitrate/mononitrate. Nitrates can cause dangerously low blood pressure. If you take nitrates, Eriacta will cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, which could lead to dizziness, fainting, or heart attack. Eriacta is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Eriacta may harm a developing fetus. Women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not take Eriacta. Eriacta is not recommended for use in children. Eriacta has not been studied in children and is not approved for use in children. Eriacta may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: headache flushing nosebleed upset stomach diarrhea dizziness rash If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: vision changes sudden decrease in vision sudden loss of vision ringing in the ears dizziness chest pain irregular heartbeat shortness of breath nosebleed sweating fainting Eriacta may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while taking this medication. If you experience a serious side effect, you or your doctor may send a report to the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online (http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch) or by phone (1-800-332-1088).
