Glycomet

Glycomet (metformin) is an anti-diabetic medication utilized to keep blood sugar level levels controlled. It is frequently recommended for type 2 diabetes. The active component metformin is a biguanide. It works by minimizing the quantity of sugar that the liver produces and the intestines absorb. Side effects of Glycomet

The most common side effects of Glycomet are:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
  • Rapid weight gain

Dosage of Glycomet

The recommended starting dose of Glycomet is 500 mg twice daily, taken with meals. The maximum recommended dose is 2500 mg daily.

Important information about Glycomet

Glycomet may cause a condition called lactic acidosis, which can be fatal. Lactic acidosis is more likely to occur if you are elderly, have kidney or liver disease, have heart failure, have a history of alcohol abuse, or are taking certain medications. Call your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Muscle pain or weakness
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stomach pain
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
